Lake Garda Marathon, Heavy 24, BIKE Transalp - the conditions for the endurance test could hardly have been tougher. Racers know: In a marathon, the fork never rests. Constant bumps, brutal braking manoeuvres, constant pedalling and activating and deactivating the lockout a hundred times put a strain on the fork, which also has to be as light as possible in this segment. On top of this, dust, water and mud are a problem for the seals. It's amazing how well the SID coped with this despite the 2500 or so hardcore kilometres ridden. Neither the Ultimate cartridge, nor the seals, nor the stanchions showed any signs of wear.
