After the MT brake models last year, the Swabians are presenting a completely new range of forks for 2013. The forks are all called TS, which stands for Team Suspension. There are two versions, the TS8 and the TS6. Both differ externally only in the labelling, the casting is the same. The lighter inner workings of the TS8 ultimately ensure that the 8-series models are a few grams lighter. As the lightest fork, the TS8 SL with 80 millimetres of travel cracks the 1300 gram mark.
Sabine Spitz also rode a TS8 from Magura when she won her silver medal in London. However, this was a version with a special Tune thru-axle that had been reduced to 80 millimetres. The special feature of the in-house thru-axle is an integrated Torx T25 spanner, which is used to open the axle. This is located on the left-hand side of the axle and can be pulled out by hand.
The thru axle weighs 60 grams. Special protection caps on the underside protect the down tube when the front wheel is removed. The 29er fork with 100 millimetres and thru-axle weighs 1630 grams and costs 850 euros.
Magura also offers a wide range for the new 27.5-inch wheel standard. There is a choice of three TS8 versions with 100, 120 or 150 millimetres of travel. The forks are approved for tyres up to 2.3 inches. The 150 mm fork is also available with an optional "Lift select" function. This allows the fork to be lowered to 120 millimetres. The Lift Select fork costs 900 euros.
In response to requests from original equipment manufacturers, Magura has added a special version of the MT4 brake to its programme: the MTS. With a new lever, the MTS is based on the MT4. Only with gold anodised applications and Storm SL discs.
