Large air chamber: Rockshox Lyrik RC2 suspension fork on test
The market is offering more and more special accessories and add-on parts for e-mountain bikers. The Rockshox Lyrik has accompanied us off-road for a long time. What are its strengths and weaknesses?

High-quality suspension forks have been sensitive and forgiving for years, but fork manufacturers still manage to tease out a few per cent increase in performance year after year. Rockshox has given its 2019 models a 42 per cent larger air chamber (Debon Air). The response behaviour is extremely smooth and the fork is pleasantly high in its travel, meaning it does not dive away unpleasantly on steep terrain - an important feature, especially for heavy E-MTBs. This saves a lot of power on rough trails and provides safety. Another new feature is the new RC2 damping cartridge. In addition to the low-speed compression stage, the high-speed compression stage can now also be adjusted. Good: The adjustment options are manageable with five clicks. The centre position corresponds to the previous year's configuration, so there are only two clicks in each direction. This means that the setup is not unnecessarily complicated, even for less experienced riders.

Florentin Vesenbeckh has been on a mountain bike since he was ten years old. Even on his very first tour, he focussed on single trails - and even after more than 30 years in the saddle of an MTB, these are still the quintessence of biking for him. He spent his youth competing in various bike disciplines and later his cycling career was characterised by years as a riding technique coach. Professionally, the experienced test editor now focusses on e-mountainbikes. In recent years, the qualified sports scientist and trained journalist has tested over 300 bikes and more than 40 different motor systems in the laboratory and in practice.
