The Fox Float X2 mountain bike shock has a safety risk. The air chamber can burst under high compression. Fox is now recalling all shocks from the 2016 model year and some 2017 models.

Fox is recalling the Float X2 mountain bike shock because the air chamber can burst under certain circumstances. Customers may use the Stop using the product and should leave their bikes at home. Dealers are no longer allowed to sell Fox Float X2 shocks or bikes with the shock until further information is released by the manufacturer.

If, as shown in this picture, the "250 psi max" label below the air fill valve is missing on the shock, Fox Float X2 shocks may no longer be used until further notice.Photo: Georg Grieshaber If, as shown in this picture, the "250 psi max" label below the air fill valve is missing on the shock, Fox Float X2 shocks may no longer be used until further notice.

The voluntary recall affects all 2016 models and some parts of the 2017 model year that were delivered before 9 September 2016 and on which there is NO indication "250 psi max" below the air filling valve on the outer air chamber sleeve.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
