Geoff Kabush has already claimed his first victory at the Sea Otter Festival on his Scott Spark 29. The special thing about his bike: Fox suspension with electronic control that can be changed from the handlebars in a fraction of a second.
What was still a prototype in April will be available to everyone from September this year. Under the abbreviation IRD (Intelligent Ride Dynamic), Fox, with the support of Shimano, is launching an electronic system on the market that allows the suspension to be switched simultaneously from an open position to a mode with a platform. The complete suspension, consisting of a Fox Factory Float 100 or 120 fork in combination with a Float damper, will have three different positions. Completely open, maximum platform for climbing and maximum platform at the rear only.
Optionally, the system with a very compact rotary switch will also be available for the fork only. For the control unit and the battery, Fox relies on the cooperation with Shimano, who already have extensive experience with the Di2 shifting system. The complete system, consisting of fork, damper, handlebar switch, battery and cable, should weigh 1860 grams. The forks from 1555 grams. The battery should last 2.5 months.
