Rockshox Yari and Revelation are the more affordable models for the top forks Lyrik and Pike. For the 2021 model year, the Americans are equipping both suspension forks with the new DebonAir air spring.

With the Yari enduro fork and the Revelation all-mountain fork, Rockshox offers its customers cheaper alternatives to the more expensive Lyrik and Pike models. With up to 180 millimetres of travel, the Yari is mainly found on powerful enduro mountain bikes or freeride bikes. The affordable equivalent to the Pike, the Rockshox Revelation, with suspension travel of up to 150 millimetres, meets the requirements of everything from sporty tourers to downhill-oriented all-mountain bikes. For the 2021 model year, the Americans are giving both forks an update. They contain the new DebonAir air spring.

The new Rockshox Yari

The Yari has no need to hide from the powerful Lyrik, as the relationship is obvious and the genes are the same. The Yari also benefits from the stiff Lyrik chassis. The thick 35 mm aluminium stanchions defy any stone field. Thanks to the revised DebonAir air spring, the fork should now respond even better and not bottom out even on the steepest descents. The Rockshox Motion Control damping with adjustable low-speed compression damping tames hard impacts.

The new Rockshox Revelation

The Revelation also shares the chassis with the more expensive Pike family member. The 35-millimetre stanchions come with a Fast Black coating. Like the Yari, the 2021 Revelation will, according to the manufacturer, benefit from the new DebonAir air spring, which ensures finer response behaviour and better fork travel on steep descents. Motion Control damping with adjustable low-speed compression damping is also on board.

Why the new DebonAir air spring?

Many Rockshox forks have a few millimetres of travel even when stationary, without additional rider weight. This should no longer be the case with the new DebonAir air spring. The American manufacturer hopes that the improved unit will mean that the fork will no longer sag when stationary and will have significantly better suspension travel on steep terrain. Rockshox achieves this by moving the seal head in the stanchion tube upwards by around one centimetre. As a result, the seal head is positioned exactly on the equalisation valve, which now finds it even easier to exchange air between the positive and negative air chambers when fully extended.

In addition, the sealing head of the air spring has been reversed. Rockshox hopes that this move will result in significantly more air in the casting, which should improve the final progressiveness of the fork.

The new DebonAir air spring for retrofitting?

A fair offer: Rockshox offers a complete DebonAir retrofit kit for forks up to 2018 for 47 euros. This allows older Revelation, Yari, Pike and Lyrik suspension forks to be updated. For models from 2019 and 2020, you only need to replace the seal head and the bottom groove. The tuning kit is available for 29 euros.
