Already tested: Marzocchi novelties 2008
From cross country to freeride - the Marzocchi forks in 2008 are one thing above all: lighter than ever before.

Stability and durability - until now, these were the attributes associated with Marzocchi. The Italians have so far paid tribute to this with a slightly overweight bike. This will change fundamentally with the coming model year. In both the enduro and marathon sectors, the Bologna-based company is aiming to break weight records. The "55", the highlight in the Enduro class, will weigh just 2106 grams. And that with adjustable suspension travel (125 to 165 mm), a new quick-release axle system ("QR-Axle") and 35 millimetre thick stanchions.

The "XC 700" marathon/all-mountain fork (100 to 140 millimetres) also has nothing to hide at 1665 grams. The slimming cure is made possible by computer-optimised casting, a fork crown with a honeycomb design and nickel-coated stanchions. In contrast to anodised stanchions, the nickel coating is far less corrosive to the material. So thanks to this coating, less aluminium is needed than before. On the functional side, Marzocchi 2008 has two new features.

DRIVING REPORT "55 ATA"
Plug and play? It's not that easy to have fun with the "55 ATA". First of all, two air chambers (one only provides the final progression) need to be carefully adjusted to each other. Here you need a little sensitivity and experience, because whether the specifications on the fork leg also match the riding style is more a matter of luck. But then there's no stopping you. On the steep, technical test trail in Cortina, the "55" felt extremely stiff. You can trust the steering with confidence. The full suspension travel can be utilised without bottoming out. The response behaviour changed from "a little choppy" to "sensitive" within the first few metres.
