Adjustment: Perfect MTB damper set-up
Too soft? Too hard? Not sensitive enough? We'll show you how to perfectly adjust the shock on your mountain bike in just a few minutes.

Nine steps to a perfectly tuned MTB damper:

1. a rubber O-ring is usually placed around the piston of the shock. Push the rubber O-ring up to the wiper seal of the shock and sit on the bike in the riding position. The shoes should be clicked onto the pedals. Do not rock! Ideally, have a second person hold the bike for you.

2. carefully get off the bike. The O-ring shows you the current negative suspension travel (SAG for short). It should be between 20 and 40 per cent of the total suspension travel. Racers tend to ride with a firmer suspension, i.e. less SAG. Enduro riders and touring bikers ride with a lot of SAG and a softer suspension. 3. if the suspension travel does not meet your expectations, you must adjust the air spring either softer or harder. To do this, use the suspension fork pump again. 4. also look for the appropriate pressure for your body weight in the operating instructions for the shock as a guide. Tip: Some bike manufacturers install special shocks that have their own air pressure values (e.g. on the Cannondale Jekyll).
