Stronger push assistance for Bosch CX
Bosch presents a software update for Performance CX motors at the BIKE Festival: The push assist should be significantly more powerful. There's also more power with shorter cranks.

Last year Bosch the E-MTB mode before: This was intended to bring the riding experience of the e-mountainbike closer to that of a "normal" MTB - and it has succeeded. In the new mode, the motor assists depending on your own power and significantly improves the riding experience.

Improved push assistance, especially on steep sections

Back then, we criticised the weak pedal assist: it doesn't really help on steep terrain and makes pushing passages tedious. Bosch now wants to have improved this: The new push assist uses the information from the inclination sensor and can therefore adjust the power flow depending on the gradient. On steep gradients, it should push really hard without going too fast on flat terrain.

Legal tuning for short cranks

Speaking of pedal assist: another update optimises the power flow with short cranks. Previously, short crank arms reduced performance, but the application is intended to counteract this. Bosch has sharpened the motor characteristics in E-MTB mode and increased the support in Tour mode. We have already explained in detail that shorter cranks make perfect sense on an E-MTB.

You can have the updates conveniently installed by your dealer in autumn 2018 - provided your engine is from model year 2016 or later. The updates can already be installed at the BIKE Festival on Lake Garda can be tested next weekend (stand D1 on the festival site), but you have to make an appointment with Bosch for a test ride.
