The Focus was one of the first e-mountainbikes with the new Fazua Ride 60 drive. With 160 millimetres of travel at the front and 150 millimetres at the rear, the bike straddles the line between all-mountain and enduro and should be equally at home on long, demanding tours as it is on really nasty terrain. One special feature of the Focus is the classic battery removal, where the battery is simply folded forwards out of the down tube. This is unusually user-friendly for a light E-MTB, but the Focus lacks a charging port for weight reasons. The battery must therefore always be removed for charging. On the other hand, the Focus has a particularly variable geometry: the length of the chainstay and the steering angle can be adjusted independently of each other using flip chips in the rear triangle and an angled headset. This allows the bike to be ridden as a compact and manoeuvrable trail bike as well as a flat and smooth-running enduro bike. The Jam² SL is available in four models from 6299 euros.

The Ghost Path Riot may only have 140 millimetres of rear travel, but don't let that fool you. This is because the company from the Upper Palatinate region of Germany has really pushed its Light E-MTB to the limit. Extreme geometry with a super-slack steering angle, thick suspension elements, stable add-on parts: The Ghost really wants to know. The Fazua battery with the usual 430 watt hours is therefore permanently installed in the bike, which should make the bike light and the frame stable despite the massive add-on parts. The Ghost is only available in three upmarket equipment variants, from 7500 euros >> available here.
The first Light E-MTB with the new Fazua Ride 60 drive is of course still a very hot candidate a year later. With 140 millimetres of travel at the front and rear, the Lyke may not be generously equipped, but with its balanced geometry and successful rear triangle, it still offers a very mature and balanced trail performance and sufficient reserves even for very demanding terrain. The bike was also able to prove this in a large comparison test of lightweight e-mountainbikes. A special feature is the motor, which is mounted rotated in the frame, with the motor extension protruding into the seat tube. Although this limits the insertion depth for seat posts somewhat, it results in a particularly slim silhouette. The weight of 18.6 kilograms (EMTB measurement) is also impressive. Unfortunately, Haibike has significantly increased the price again since the relaunch. The Lyke is now available in three models for 7000, 8000 and 12500 euros.

Although the E-Zesty 2018 was the first fully with a Fazua motor and therefore the first modern light E-MTB ever, the French company took a long time to come up with a new version. It wasn't until this summer, a year after the launch of the new Ride 60, that Lapierre unveiled the new E-Zesty. The key points: An average suspension travel of 140 millimetres, paired with modern geometry and a now permanently installed battery. There are only two models, which also differ slightly in their design. The more affordable AM 9.4, with its 150-millimetre Rockshox Lyrik fork and Super Deluxe shock with reservoir, is geared more towards downhill fun, while the LTD (€8699) prioritises lightweight construction with its 140-millimetre Pike fork, carbon wheels and shock without reservoir.
Prefer aluminium to carbon? Prefer a bike with more added value in Germany than the Far East? Then the Jinxx Elf from bike manufacturer Maxx near Rosenheim is the right choice. The small company already jumped on the light bandwagon with the first Jinxx Elf with Fazua's Evation system. The new Jinxx now comes with Ride 60 but still has a user-friendly removable battery. With 140 millimetres of travel, it is aimed at the touring category and has already made a good first impression on us with its comfortable suspension and uncomplicated handling. The bike can be adapted to individual colour and equipment requirements in the in-house configurator. It starts from 6499 euros, but then already with high-quality equipment.
Even more than Maxx (above), Nox from the Zillertal relies on a bike "made in Europe". And even with a carbon frame! The chassis itself is laminated by hand in Portugal, painted in Bavaria and assembled in Zillertal. Numerous small CNC parts for the frame also come from Bavaria. Of course, Fazua's Ride 60 drive system is inside, and the battery folds out of the down tube in the classic way. The Nox Epium is available as an All Mountain (29 inch) with 150 and as an Enduro (Mullet) with 180 millimetres of travel, the geometry with high bottom bracket, long chainstays, compact reach and very slack head angle is somewhat unusual, but also gives the Epium a unique selling point. Prices start at 8599 euros.
With the Shuttle SL The American cult forge Pivot presented a particularly minimalist Fazua bike: the rear suspension travel is quite short at 132 millimetres, with 140 or 150 millimetres at the front. Pivot combines this with an aggressive geometry with super-short chainstays but a modern steering angle to create an emphatically lively and manoeuvrable bike. The battery on the Shuttle SL is permanently installed for weight reasons. The luxury bike from America is only available from 8999 euros upwards in 4 models. The particularly weight-reduced top model "Worldcup" is said to weigh only 16.5 kilograms.
The latest bike with Fazua's Ride 60 motor is also the first Light E-MTB from Santa Cruz. As the name suggests, the Heckler SL is modelled on Santa Cruz's classic Heckler e-MTB with EP8 drive. This means: 160 / 150 millimetres of travel and a range of use on the border between all-mountain and enduro. For downhill fun, Santa Cruz prefers to equip the Heckler SL with grippy tyres and robust parts rather than focusing too much on weight. The modern geometry and the VPP rear triangle also promise a lot of riding fun, if you are prepared to live with the permanently installed battery. Prices start at 7499 euros, there are a total of five configurations and two frame qualities, and the upper end of the scale is only reached at 12,999 euros.
The brand new Storck Light e-MTB has so far only been presented as a 3D print at Eurobike 2022. Nevertheless, the carbon creation from the Hessian carbon fibre specialist sounds interesting: with 29-inch wheels and a suspension travel of 150 millimetres, the e:drenalin.2 SL is aimed at the all-mountain category. The Fazuas Ride60 drive system with a permanently installed battery is integrated into the down tube. Typical for Storck, the entry-level model is not exactly cheap at 8,000 euros, but is already very decently equipped. The target weight of 16.5 kilograms sounds ambitious.
Would you like something a little more enduro? Alongside the long-travel Nox Epium (above), the Relay from Transition is certainly the most downhill-orientated bike with a Fazua motor. Depending on the customer's wishes, the Americans combine 170 or 160 millimetres of travel with 29-inch wheels or the Mullet configuration. Unusual for such a small company: the Relay is available with both aluminium and carbon frames, as well as in six sizes from XS to XXL. Prices start at 8199 euros for the two aluminium models, while the four carbon bikes cost between 10,199 and a whopping 14,699 euros.
Willier is best known for its road bikes and cross-country bikes. No wonder that the Italians have also opted for a bike with particularly racy genes for the E-MTB. The Urty Hybrid is strongly orientated towards Willier's cross-country bikes without a motor and combines a particularly sporty riding position for an e-MTB with just 120 millimetres of suspension travel. The geometry with a low front end, longer stem and short reach should also encourage you to pedal hard. According to the manufacturer, the weight starts at 16 kilograms. You will have to invest at least 7,000 euros for the Willier Urta Hybrid.
