The new 202 NSW relies on a carbon layup that is designed to mimic the function of a muscle tendon. The carbon fibres on the outside of the rim are designed for impact resistance and durability. High-modulus fibres on the inside of the rim are designed to maintain constant spoke tension. According to the manufacturer, the stiffness around the spoke bed is maximised, as is the robustness of the rim flange. The rim design is based on the carbon layup of the 353 NSW.

Rims and aerodynamics

The 35 mm high rim is designed to offer aerodynamic advantages when approaching climbs and on descents. The TSS construction (Tubeless Straight Side) enables wider tyres and lower air pressures. The maximum tyre pressure is 73 psi or 5.0 bar, depending on the tyre width. The maximum system weight is 115 kg. The rim is designed to minimise rolling resistance and vibration losses.

Hubs and spokes

The ZR1 SL hubs developed in Germany have highly corrosion-resistant ceramic ball bearings. With 66 points of engagement, the freehub is designed to ensure efficient traction. Alpina Hyperlite steel spokes are spoked in a double-crossed 20-hole pattern. The rear wheel is optionally available for SRAM 10/11-speed or XDR freewheel.

Prices and availability

The Front wheel costs 1,700 euros, the Rear wheel 2,100 euros. The wheelset is available from 23 April 2026 e.g. available here. Zipp grants a lifetime warranty on the 202 NSW.
