HUNT presents the third generation of its Limitless wheels with three new models. The 4AM series was developed for hill climbs, the 5AM model for flat and undulating tracks. All wheels underwent a five-stage development process with CFD analysis, wind tunnel tests and outdoor validation.
The Limitless range uses different rim profiles for the front and rear wheels. The front wheel has a deeper and wider rim with the patented Limitless Width Aero Technology. The rear wheel is flatter and narrower, which saves weight and should improve power transmission.
The top model in the 4AM series uses carbon spokes and weighs 1156 grams per pair. In the wind tunnel at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub, HUNT tested the wheel at 45 km/h with 30 mm tyres. The result: 1.4 watts faster than the ENVE 4.5 Pro with 139 grams less weight.
The front wheel rim measures 49.5 mm in depth and 34.2 mm in width. The internal width is 23 mm. The rear wheel uses a 47 mm deep and 30 mm wide rim, also with an internal width of 23 mm. Both rims have a hooked tyre interface.
The wheel uses VONOA Ti_UD carbon spokes. Each spoke weighs 1.7 grams. The front wheel has 15 spokes, the rear wheel uses 18 spokes. The spoke nipples are recessed in the rim, which is intended to reduce air resistance.
The HUNT Chase SLC hubset weighs 289 grams per pair. The hubs use 7075-T6 aluminium alloy and a double-sided locking system with a 7.5 degree engagement angle. The locking system is galvanised. Buyers can choose between stainless steel bearings and CeramicSpeed bearings.
The steel-spoke version of the 4AM weighs 1283 grams per pair. In the wind tunnel, the wheel tested 1.13 watts faster than the ENVE 4.5 Pro and was 12 grams lighter. HUNT uses Pillar SuperWing 20 spokes, which are triple-butted and are said to have the longest aero blade area of all steel spokes.
The rim dimensions correspond to the Ti_UD version: 49.5 mm deep and 34.2 mm wide at the front, 47 mm deep and 30 mm wide at the rear. The internal width is 23 mm in each case. The front wheel uses 20 spokes, the rear wheel 24 spokes. The spoke nipples are also countersunk here.
The HUNT Chase SL hubset weighs 277 grams per pair. The hubs use the same 7075-T6 aluminium alloy and the same locking system as the Ti_UD version. The bearings are made of stainless steel.
The 5AM model uses deeper rims for flat tracks. The weight is 1339 grams per pair. In the wind tunnel, the wheel tested 0.06 watts faster than the Roval Rapide Sprint, which weighs 1395 grams. The advantage over the Scope Artech 6 was 0.31 watts.
The front wheel rim measures 58 mm in depth and 34.5 mm in width. The rear wheel uses a 55 mm deep and 30 mm wide rim. The internal width is 23 mm. Both rims have a hooked tyre interface.
HUNT also uses Pillar SuperWing 20 spokes with countersunk nipples. The front wheel uses 20 spokes, the rear wheel 24 spokes. The HUNT Chase SL hub set weighs 277 grams per pair and technically corresponds to the 4AM Steel Spoke model.
The patented Limitless Technology utilises a low-density polymer in the rim sidewall. The material weighs 0.7 g/cm³ and is moulded between the carbon layers at 1.6 g/cm³. The wider rim shape is designed to keep the air flowing for longer at higher wind angles.
The wider front wheel rim prepares the airflow for modern frames with wide downtubes. The shape is intended to enable more stable handling on fast descents with changing wind conditions. The rear wheel works in the turbulent airflow behind the front wheel, frame and rider. The focus here is on weight reduction and power transmission.
HUNT tested the wheels in the wind tunnel at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub in January 2026, with both wheels on the complete bike and 30 mm tyres at 45 km/h. The 4AM Limitless Ti_UD achieved an advantage of 1.4 watts over the ENVE 4.5 Pro. Compared to the DT Swiss 55 ARC Dicut BD, which weighs 1479 grams, and the Reserve 57/64 Turbulent Aero with 1554 grams, the difference was 0.1 watts.
Dr Barnaby Garrood carried out outdoor tests with AeroSensor. These tests showed the advantage of the recessed spoke nipples and the reduced number of spokes on the Ti_UD variants. The 4AM Limitless Ti_UD Carbon Spoke tested 0.41 watts faster than the ENVE 4.5 Pro. The 5AM Limitless Steel Spoke achieved an advantage of 5 watts over the Zipp 404 Firecrest with 81 grams less weight.
HUNT developed the impellers in a five-stage process. The first stage uses CFD analyses. This is followed by three phases of wind tunnel testing: single wheel, complete wheel and wheel with rider. The final stage validates the results with sensor-based outdoor tests.
Rob Fields, Head of Engineering and Product at HUNT, explains: "We have ventured further into high performance engineering, advanced materials and aerodynamic development than ever before. The wheels are built to compete at the highest level. At the same time, we remain true to our belief that world-class performance should remain accessible and the understanding of these performance metrics must be open and transparent."
All three wheels can now be pre-ordered at huntbikewheels.com. The 5AM Limitless Steel Spoke will be delivered in the fourth week of May 2026. The two 4AM models will follow in the third week of June 2026.
