The young Frenchwoman Loana Lecomte (Massi) continues where she left off last year in the U23 class. The 21-year-old dominated the women's World Cup race in the Bullentäle in Albstadt, beating the reigning world champion and taking her second World Cup victory in the elite category by 53 seconds. The U23 world champion had already triumphed in Nove Mesto last year. Pauline Ferrand-Prevot secured a double victory for France. Behind her, 22-year-old Haley Batten (Trinity Racing) won the duel against Kate Courtney (Scott). This means that Batten is another young rider in her first year at the elite level. Fifth place went to climbing specialist Yana Belomoina (CST PostNL Bafang). Behind them, Anne Terpstra (Ghost), Linda Indergand (Liv), Laura Stigger (Specialized), Jenny Rissveds and Sina Frei (Specialized) complete the top 10. On the climbing-heavy course in Albstadt, almost all of the top six riders were on the lighter hardtail, with only winner Lecomte relying on a fully.
The best German was Ronja Eibl (Alpecin Fenix) in 22nd place, Elisabeth Brandau finished in 24th place.
