Swiss duel in Lenzerheide
Almost four weeks ago, the downhill and cross-country elite did the honours in Leogang. From 8 to 10 July, the best of the fastest will meet again in Lenzerheide.

The Swiss Nino Schurter (Scott) has already won numerous World Cup victories and the 2018 Cross-Country World Championships on his home course in Lenzerheide. This year, a home win would even give him the world record for the most World Cup victories. Schurter currently shares the title with French cross-country legend Julien Absalon with 33 victories.

The toughest opponent this year is Schurter's compatriot and overall World Cup winner 2021 Mathias Flückiger (Thömus). In Leogang, he came out on top in the end. Now both want to shine in front of a home crowd.

"I'm actually hoping for a duel between the two of us like in Leogang." Mathias Flückiger came out on top at the last World Cup and wants to upset his compatriot Nino Schurter again this time. Favourites: Who will win the women's race?

After a weak start to the season, the Frenchwoman Loana Lecomte (Canyon) in Leogang and put the competition in their place. Only the Swede Jenny Rissveds (Ibis) was able to keep up with the pace of the reigning overall World Cup winner for the most part.

The Australian and current overall World Cup leader in XCO and XCC, Rebecca McConnell (Mondraker), is regarded as Lecomte's biggest rival. With an extra portion of motivation, the Swiss women are also likely to Jolanda Neff (Trek), Alessandra Keller (Thömus) and Sina Frei (Specialized), who were particularly convincing in the XC Short Track Overall World Cup.

Downhill: Chances of winning are well distributed

The Frenchman Amaury Pierron (Commencal) won every World Cup race this year. Only in Leogang did he have to settle for fifth place. The Brit Matt Walker (Saracen) took first place with a perfect run. Alongside Matt Walker, there are several riders in the hunt: Danny Hart (Cube), Benoit Coulanges (Commencal), Laurie Greenland (Santa Cruz) and the returning player after his injury Loic Bruni (Specialized) are eager to add their names to the list of winners in 2022.
