After a year's break, a change of title sponsor (from Audi to Swatch) and a change of location, the Swatch Nines finally took place again. The freeride event took place in the Ellweiler quarry until 2021 - this year, the newly built Green Hill Bikepark near Schmallenberg in the Sauerland region celebrated its premiere as the venue for the Swatch Nines. On the various courses, which merged into one another, 27 mountain bikers and 14 female mountain bikers provided for enthusiasm among the audience. The Swatch Nines highlights can now be seen in a 24-minute video entitled Pedal To The Metal.
The BYND The Hill Festival, which took place from 18 to 20 August, gave the Swatch Nines MTB event a special touch. In addition to music, visitors could look forward to the Public Days (18/19 August), where they could watch the mountain bikers perform live on site. In addition to the MTB event, there was another sport that generated a lot of enthusiasm: five international skateboard stars competed in the skatebowl set up for them, which was adjacent to an MTB course. The two action sports thus merged at the Swatch Nines.
In a highlight video, Nicholi Rogatkin (USA) and Casey Brown (Canada) take viewers through the past event and show what the Swatch Nines had to offer. You can see many MTB sequences, but also a few clips of the skateboarders. In addition to seasoned pros, young talents were also able to show what the MTB world can look forward to in the coming years.
