The women's short track race was won by Sweden's Jenny Rissveds, who also won the last World Cup of 2019 over the Olympic distance in Lenzerheide. She was followed by XC World Champion Evie Richards (GBR) ahead of her team-mate and Olympic champion Jolanda Neff (SUI). The young French rider Loana Lecomte also made a comeback with a fifth place after missing the World Championships due to illness. The best German is Ronja Eibl in sixth place. The front row of the cross-country race on Sunday is completed by the two Specialised riders Laura Stigger (AUT) and Sina Frei (SUI) in seventh and eighth place.
In the men's short track race, the ten laps were very close. Up until two laps before the end, the first ten riders were only a few seconds apart. In the end, short track specialist Henrique Avancini came out on top. The runner-up world champion from Brazil was the only rider able to keep up with an attack by Mathias Flückiger (SUI) and distanced the overall World Cup leader on the final lap. "It was a good race. My tactics didn't quite work out, but I'm very happy with second place. I felt good, power and acceleration were good. That's a good sign for Sunday. I was also able to collect a few points for the overall World Cup," said Mathias Flückiger. Third place went to Frenchman Victor Koretzky ahead of Alan Hatherly (RSA), XC World Champion Nino Schurter (SUI) and Jordan Sarrou (FRA). Max Brandl confirmed his bronze medal from Val di Sole and finished in seventh place, which means he will start from the front row on Sunday. Short track world champion Christopher Blevins from the USA was not at the start. The other German placings: Luca Schwarzbauer 23rd and Georg Egger in 32nd place.
