The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and Red Bull Media House today announced the extension of their exclusive production and rights partnership. The long-term partnership secures the broadcast of the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup for the years 2019 to 2021. Red Bull TV has consistently improved the way viewers experience the Downhill (DHI) and Cross-Country (XCO) World Cup since 2012 and will continue to bring mountain bike fans up close to the action. In addition to the exclusive production and broadcast partnership, Red Bull Media House will continue to hold the global distribution rights.
Since 2012, Red Bull Media House and UCI have been cooperating to provide live images directly from every stop of the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. In addition, Red Bull Media House has owned the global distribution rights since 2016, which are currently licenced to 50 radio and TV stations in 104 territories each season. According to Red Bull, the increased cooperation with broadcast partners has led to a more than 30% increase in the World Cup's TV audience in recent years.
Since the 2018 season, Red Bull Media House has integrated a fixed camera on a motorbike into the broadcast, providing a fresh perspective on the racing action. Innovative, digital improvements in production also help to ensure that the quality of the broadcasts increases with each season. This has led, among other things, to the enrichment of the broadcasts with detailed statistics and analyses.
