Olympia. Never heard of it? The traditional Italian manufacturer has been in existence since 1893 and is perhaps best compared to Centurion or Hercules in Germany. Despite its long company history, Olympia has always been able to adapt to new circumstances and requirements. Today, Piove di Sacco, a small town 25 kilometres south-west of Venice, mainly produces high-quality mountain bikes and racing bikes.
In the mountain bike segment, the focus at Olympia is clearly on racing. Lightweight and reliable carbon frames have repeatedly brought the brand respectable results in recent years, particularly at national events. The Italian composite technology also proved its worth this year. Didi de Vries from the Netherlands became U19 Benelux champion, and an Olympic rider under the Italian Marzio Deho rode to victory in the world's highest MTB race, the "Sky is the limit" in the Himalayas in. Second and third place at the Italian Cross Country Championships also went to Olympia.
In addition to more than 10 hardtails in 27.5 and 29 inches and in carbon or aluminium, Olympia also has a race fully and two plus bikes in its range for 2016. Bullet 27.5+ is the name of the new plus-fully and, with 120 millimetres of suspension travel, plus tyres, carbon frame and Sram/Rock Shox equipment, is designed for comfortable but fast touring use. A Rock Shox Reverb can be fitted on request.
The second plus-size mountain bike from Olympia is called the Masters 27.5+ Peak, is a hardtail and, like its full-suspension brother, has been optimised for touring. Both bikes roll on 2.8 inch wide tyres. Olympia has also expanded its commitment in the area of children's and youth bikes. In addition to the conventional 20-inch and 24-inch mountain bikes, fat bikes and plus bikes are now also available.
