After Markus Klausmann, there is actually only one German showcase downhiller and that is Johannes Fischbach (although Max Hartenstern is now almost outranking him). But the last few years have not gone so well for the fourcross champion. Injuries again and again, then a few good races, then back in hospital. Now, however, "Fischi" is fully back and ready to tackle the next season.
Just in time for a big announcement. The end of Radon, Fischbach says thank you for the co-operation. And what's next? It took a while, but now we have certainty: from now on, the German bike manufacturer R Raymon will be the title sponsor of what is probably the fastest German downhiller.
However, "Fischi" himself is obviously looking forward to the collaboration: "As far back as I can remember, I've been riding bikes of all kinds and always trying to push the boundaries of what is possible. I'm looking forward to working with R Raymon and think that we will be very successful together," he predicts. "A young team, quick decisions and lots of opportunities to play an active role in shaping things - what more could a professional athlete want?"
Johannes Fischbach will now tackle the World Cup with a new downhill bike that still has prototype status. As always, city downhills are also on the programme and, of course, the odd ride "just for fun" on an enduro or e-bike from R Raymon. It all starts on 17 February with the City Downhill in Valparaiso. We wish "Fischi" all the best!
