The first edition of the 2025 MTB Marathon World Cup is still underway, but the UCI has already announced the stages for the coming season. Surprise: because the long-distance World Cup is going so well, there will be not just five but six stages in 2026.

Elba, the Pyrenees, Spain, the Dolomites and the Black Forest: next year, the marathon World Cup races will once again take place where others go on holiday. And because the series has been so well received by the racers this year, the UCI has even announced six race venues for next year.

  1. February: Hero Costa Blanca in Calpe (Spain)
  2. May: Capoliveri Legend Cup on Elba (Italy)
  3. May: Naturland Andorra (Pyrenees)
  4. June: Hero Südtirol Dolomites in Wolkenstein (Italy)
  5. July: Black Forest Ultra Bike Marathon in Kirchzarten (Black Forest)
  6. New! September: La Tramun Sea Otter Europe, Girona (Spain)

There are no details yet about the individual routes. Just this much: a total of 481 kilometres and 14,459 metres in altitude will be covered in the various countries.

UCI President David Lappartient is delighted that this World Cup format also allows amateur marathon riders to compete: "This is an excellent approach to further promote the mountain bike marathon discipline." In fact, a total of 3,000 amateur riders already took part in this year's first edition of the series and the number is set to rise even further next year.

But the 2025 season is not over yet. On 21 September, the starting gun will be fired for the final "La Tramun Sea Otter Europe" race in Girona, Spain. The winner of the first Hero UCI Marathon World Cup season 2025 will be decided there over a distance of 82 kilometres and 2969 metres in altitude.

We are of course keeping our fingers crossed for the current German leader, Andreas Seewald. He is currently leading with 130 points ahead of second-placed Belgian Wout Alleman. However, 250 points are awarded for a victory at the World Cup, 200 points for second place and 160 points for the bronze medal. So it's going to be exciting once again on the Costa Brava!
