First double World Cup 2022 in Leogang
While the cross-country and downhill athletes have so far spent the World Cup separately, the world's best mountain bikers will meet in Leogang in Salzburger Land from 10 to 12 June.

The world's best riders in cross country and downhill will meet for the first time this season and battle for valuable World Cup points at the same venue. In addition to the races, there will be exciting side events at Bikepark Leogang as well as an expo area, an air show, a BMX show and a signing session with the athletes from Fox Racing. Up to 20,000 spectators are expected in Leogang on the race weekend. Tickets are available on site or online. Click here for the online tickets. If you can no longer get tickets or are unable to travel, you can watch the races at the Red Bull TV live stream track.

Cross country men: Schurter vs. Pidcock?

Overall leader Nino Schurter (SUI) already won the first race of the season in Brazil. This was followed by a second and a third place in Albstadt and Nove Mesto. With another victory, Schurter would become the sole record holder with a total of 34 World Cup victories. He currently shares the record with cross-country legend Julien Absalon (FRA). His closest rival comes from Great Britain and is called Tom Pidcock. The cyclocross world champion also races road races in addition to selected cross-country World Cups and won both the race in Albstadt and in Nove Mesto. However, Pidcock's start in Leogang is not yet confirmed.

Cross country women: Superiority from Australia

Australian Rebecca McConnell (Primaflor Mondraker) has not only won all the XCO races in Petrópolis, Albstadt and Nove Mesto, but has also finished on the podium every time in the newly established Short Track World Cup classification, where she is also in the lead. But Switzerland's Jolanda Neff (Trek) and France's Loana Lecomte (Canyon) will also be fighting for victory in Leogang. Austrians Laura Stigger (Specialized) and Mona Mitterwallner (Cannondale) will also be giving their all to perform in front of their home crowd.

Downhill men: superiority Pierron

The first two races in Lourdes and Fort William were clearly won by Frenchman Amaury Pierron (Commencal). As a result, he leads the 2022 Downhill World Cup by a clear margin. His closest rivals Laurie Greenland (GBR), Thibaut Dapréla (FRA), Benoit Coulanges (FRA) and the recently ailing Finn Iles (CAN) do not yet seem to have found a real weapon against the dominance of the rider from the French Massive Central.

Downhill women: Next attempt for Vali Höll

Local hero Vali Höll (Trek) is hot for victory on her home track. After crashing in the last two years in the final metres before the finish or during training, she wants to show on 11 June that she grew up on the Speedster in Bikepark Leogang. However, someone else is ahead in the overall World Cup: Swiss rider Camille Balanche (Commencal) won in Lourdes and finished second in Fort William, Scotland. The course in Salzburger Land also suits her. She won the World Championships there in 2020 and the World Cup race last year. Another hot candidate is Germany's Nina Hoffmann (Santa Cruz), who finished on top of the podium at the last race in Fort William.
