We show you how to maintain your headset yourself
The headset is one of the most stressed points on the entire bike. Impacts from the fork and moisture ingress quickly have a destructive effect here. The headset should therefore be serviced at least once a year.
The headset essentially consists of two ball bearings in which the fork rotates. To access both bearings, you must first remove the fork completely. Clamp the bike to the seat post in the assembly stand, remove the front wheel, in the case of V-brakes the left brake body on which the cable is clamped, in the case of disc brakes the entire brake calliper from the fork and the cable to the rear light.
