Cramped city flat, no backyard, not to mention a garden? How do you remove salt and grime from your bike? MYBIKE gives you tips for a quick wash in cramped conditions.

So you clean better:

Place a cut-open shipping carton or old newspapers under the wheel. This will keep the space in front of the house free of oily clods of dirt and dirty water.
Do not use the scouring pad of a dishwashing sponge on smooth surfaces. The hard fibres will scratch the material.
The clever pressurised spray bottle comes from the DIY store, while the washing-up sponge, microfibre cloth for drying and the practical, long-handled toilet brush are available for little money from any drugstore.

Water, march! No hose connection, no bucket: a pressurised spray bottle from the DIY store is like a small Kärcher. Only gentler. Wet the bike well before applying bike cleaner. This thoroughly removes dirt deposits

Lathering Nothing works without bike cleaner. The active ingredients are specially formulated for bicycles. They dissolve solid and greasy deposits without attacking the material. If possible, only use biodegradable cleaners. Allow to take effect, brush intensively and firmly.

Drying Rinse off dirt and foam with plenty of water. One wash cycle is often not enough. Dry all surfaces thoroughly with an old towel. Make sure you reach all corners, insides and undersides of the pipes and attachments.

Electrical contacts On pedelecs, take particular care to ensure that no moisture remains on the electrical contacts. Moisture also creeps under the display or battery. A microfibre cloth also removes the last traces of moisture from cracks and edges.

Wheel Remove the wheels to clean them better. Moisten, spray on cleaner, wipe the tyre and rim side with the sponge. Then rinse and dry. This is particularly important for rim brakes. Otherwise emery paste will form here.
