Biking in winter usually means mud, sludge and mud crusts all over your bike. If you don't want to pack your bike into the car covered in dirt or don't have a water supply at home, you can either use a bucket and sponge or one of the practical mobile low-pressure cleaners. Just in time for the mud season, Bosch is launching the Fontus 18V-6 Bike Cleaner, a completely new and significantly more compact cleaner than its predecessor.
The new Bosch Fontus 18V-6 Bike Cleaner, a low-pressure cleaner specially designed for bicycles, is being launched as part of the "18V Power for All System", which comprises around 80 different devices from the DIY, garden and household sectors. It is quite possible that your workshop already has an appliance with a suitable battery, as the "Power for All Alliance" includes several brands, so the system is not just limited to Bosch products. The highlight: All devices in this series, from rotary hammers to lawn mowers and hoovers, are compatible with the same 18-volt lithium-ion battery and a single charger. According to the manufacturer, this should save resources and benefit both the user and the environment.
The Fontus 18V-6 is said to be particularly practical for mobile use thanks to its compact design and integrated six-litre water tank. The low-pressure cleaner can be easily transported in the boot of a car, ensuring cleaning on the move without an external water or power source. Compared to the previous model, the Fontus is now much more compact and lighter.
With the Bosch Fontus 18V-6, users can choose between a normal mode with up to 20 bar and an eco mode that offers less than five bar pressure - for robust surfaces or for more sensitive bike parts. The cleaner also offers various spray patterns for different cleaning tasks. A supplied claw brush is designed to make it easier to remove stubborn dirt, while an optional detergent nozzle can be used to extend the device's range of applications.
The Bosch Fontus 18V-6 Bike Cleaner will be available from December 2024, e.g. be available here*. A test device is already on its way to our editorial office and we will soon be able to provide more information on the new Bosch cleaner.
