Hendrik and Jost, the founders of BASIC BIKES, recently launched the Monster Gravel a mixture of mountain bike and gravel bike. It goes without saying that the two are not afraid of dirt and mud on their bikes. Now, as a new addition to their product portfolio, they have an accessory that helps anyone who is short on time. Quick Gravel is the perfect gravel mixture of dust and dirt - to spray on! No time to ride out - but want your bike to have the right look? Simply choose one of the three types and apply to the frame and tyres as required.

"We've always been asked by friends how we make our bikes look so nice and dirty," says Jost. Friends always get the same answer: "We ride our bikes a lot ourselves and test them hard off-road. That's why the bikes sometimes look really dirty."

Some are still reluctant. Especially in the cold season, many prefer to train indoors. Some don't find the time to get out of the city on their bikes, and a big reason for this, BASIC Bikes explains, is that many fear damage to the paintwork and expensive components. But without these experiences, the bike can't tell adventure stories. This is where BASIC Bikes Quick Gravel comes into play: a spray-on gravel.

The idea behind the Quick Gravel Spray Dirt

After a long tour through the Grunewald forest in Berlin, founders Hendrik and Jost had the brilliant idea. The dirt on Jost's bike was almost impossible to remove. That's when it occurred to them that this could be the answer to their problem. So they set to work and experimented in the laboratory with microparticles and a special nano-liquid, which together would create a protective layer. When this mixture is applied to the bike, it ensures that the gravel dust from the bag adheres optimally to the bike.

In addition to microparticles, special fluid and ballast dust, the scope of delivery also includes a brush set and special tweezers. This allows dust and gravel particles to be precisely applied and smudged before a sealant fixes the dirt to the frame.

Super dirty - and never ridden a forest track before

Would you have believed it? The bike has never seen a mud puddle, let alone a forest track. Three bags of Gravel Spray On were used here to achieve this deceptively realistic result.Photo: BASIC BikesWould you have believed it? The bike has never seen a mud puddle, let alone a forest track. The more precise the work, the more realistic the end result. Take a look at the picture above. Who would believe that this bike has never travelled on muddy roads?

I was careful at first when dosing. I didn't want to overdo it.
