Here are our top 5 trails. We have also compiled the most important events in Leogang and spoken to Bike Park Manager Berrie van de Kolk. There will be plenty of new trail sections in the 2025 season.
The countdown is on! On 12 April 2025, the starting signal will be given for a new, action-packed bike season in Saalfelden Leogang and the heart of the bike region: in the Epic Bikepark Leogang. With new lines & trails, exciting events and targeted formats for the female bike community the region attracts park fans and single trail hunters in 2025.
The Alte Schmiede Trail is a mix of flowline and singletrail. The trail was opened in 2023 during the BIKE Festival. The descent begins above the Asitz mountain station. After a short detour on the forest road towards the summit, the entrance is on the right. It starts with tame waves and berms on a grippy surface. The towel-wide trail meanders along the slope and is never too steep. If you want more speed, pump yourself up to speed; with a lot of pop in your legs, you can double some of the waves. Every now and then a steeper jump pops up on the side. Cracks take off here and land many metres further on in a slope. In between, the ground changes to forest floor with root carpets and soft ground. The Alte Schmiede Trail is divided into five sections. In the last section, the trail leads over many wooden ladders and finally ends at a crossroads. From here you can cross over to the fun jumpline "Flowlink".
A huge playground with challenges for every skill level awaits at the foot of the mountain railway. Striking: the large wooden structures of the "Lumberjack" - a stunt line for advanced riders with two drop batteries from 0.5 to around 3 metres high, boner logs, wooden jumps and table jumps. If you want to try out the big stunts, it's better to test your airtime skills in the airbag first. The huge air cushion forgives mistakes and is ideal for honing your technique. However, most of the lines in the huge skill area are dedicated to children and beginners. There are great circuits and a mini-drop battery even for the very little ones. Advanced kids can venture onto the 800 metre long "Greenhorn Line". One of the highlights of the Riders Playground is the world championship-proven pump track. Here you can race around the pump track or round off the bike park day on a dirt bike at the end of the lift.
The Steinberg Line is primarily aimed at beginners, park newcomers and flow trail fans. The trail starts at the Asitz mountain station and winds its way down into the valley over six kilometres. Here you can enjoy the ultimate flow shower as you push your bike over the countless waves at speed and swing from one berm to the next until the centrifugal force gets your senses going. After a veritable orgy of bends, the trail ends on a gravel road and leads seamlessly into Hangman 2. In the valley, you have the option of pedalling to the Steinberg valley station or crossing back to the Asitz cable car.
The UCI World Cup Speedster course is to mountain bikers what the Nürburgring is to motorsport fans. The descent, which officially runs under the name Speedster, starts at the middle station as the Jumpline Flying Gangster. It starts with a 3-way tableline before the route leads onto the main UCI track shortly before the numerous wooden banked corners. Off-road drops, loose gravel in the bends, optional gap jumps, stone and root fields require increased attention and a clever choice of line. Around the halfway point, the downhill track runs parallel to the Flying Gangster track, a high-speed route with long table jumps. After two large wooden berms, you can choose the classic version or the new World Cup section: "Vali's Hell", which demands a lot of skill with its many high steps and root carpets. The fastest riders complete the entire descent in less than three and a half minutes. Impressive!
The Flying Gangster course is classified as a red run, which sounds quite harmless at first. But if you try to take all the available features in your stride, the route becomes more of a deep red run. The section starts at the middle station and leads down into the valley with challenging table jumps. Further on, there are steep sections peppered with numerous, sometimes steep wooden berms.
The highlight of the course is the long, fast straight with lots of table jumps where you can really let loose. The jump over the wooden bridge, which requires courage and determination when jumping off, is particularly exciting. This is followed by two XXL wooden bends that will get your pulse racing. The route then becomes steep again with many rather inconspicuous berms. In the forest, you then come across three drops of different heights. Caution: rather challenging because the landing is only visible late on. The last section leads to the start of the "Bikers Playground", where two batteries of drops are waiting to test your nerve.
The park in Leogang is my first port of call when I travel to Austria. My favourite course is the GoPro Hotshots - one jump follows the next. I also appreciate the park as a meeting place with my friends. After the lifts close, it's off to the pump track. - Marc Diekmann, Youtuber & professional biker
"A visit to Leogang is always something special. The downhill course is fast, technical and always a new challenge. The track really suits me and I look forward to coming back every year." - Vali Höll, downhill world champion
"Leogang is one of the best bike parks in Europe. It's all about the mix and it's ideal here. You have a downhill World Cup course, flow and jumplines and a first-class pump track with an airbag next to it." - Stefan Garlicki, downhill racer and Youtuber
Protectors are mandatory. A full-face helmet provides additional protection for the chin. Protectors on the knees and back: a must!
Check your bike before the first descent. Wheels, tyre pressure, headset etc. Is anything loose or has play?
Flow routes are ideal for warming up and give you a feel for the descent and the day's form.
Never stop on a drop, jump or landing. Always check who is coming from behind.
Know your limit and accept your daily form. Pay attention to your gut feeling and take a break if you feel tired.
These events await you in Saalfelden Leogang.
It is not without reason that we have BIKE Festival the Bikepark Leogang. The Expo site is right at the foot of the lift station. The motto: ride and party. There's everything a biker's heart desires here: celebrities, seminars, test bikes, scene talk, new trails and partying. Come and see us. More info here. Date: 12-14 September 2025.
Saalfelden Leogang has been an integral part of the UCI World Cup for years. This is where the world elite compete in cross country, enduro and downhill. We say: Everyone should experience a World Cup live once in their life. Date: 5-8 June.
Once a year, the park organisers call for "Clean the Trail Days" to set an example for nature and species conservation. A great campaign and a good opportunity to socialise. Date: 13 June
The Kids Cup is a mini-racing series for kids aged between five and ten and is perhaps the ideal opportunity to ignite the racing fire in the next generation. Date: 13 September
Shortly before the end of the season: The amateur racing series Auner Austrian Gravity Series holds its series finale in Leogang. Date: 11 October.
BIKE: Berrie, what can visitors expect in the new season?
BERRIE VAN DE KOLK: We have been busy and want to have some of the new tracks ready for the start of the season.
Tell us: What can we expect?
Lots of them. Hangman 1 will be supplemented with a few bypasses. There will also be a new freeride route called the "T-Line", a machine-built trail that will be similar to the "Flying Gangster" - but will be more massive. There will also be a connection from the Steinbergbahn middle station to the "Steinbergline". Single trail fans can look forward to a natural but challenging new black single trail (approx. 1.3 km, 300 metres in altitude). As you can see, we have done a lot and are therefore particularly looking forward to the new season.
Plenty of new routes for the 2025 season
You are the park manager, what is your big vision for the bike park?
We already have plenty of trails, but I would like to see more variations in the future. In other words: lots of small descents that lead back to the main route. That brings variety and even more fun.
What is your favourite route?
I have a lot of fun on the Flowlink or the Alte Schmiede Trail.
These four fresh highlights await bike park visitors
