The Lynx Trail is intended to be more than just a normal route for bikepacking enthusiasts with mountain bikes. The trail is designed to give bikers the opportunity to explore the diverse nature of the Dinaric Mountains and learn about the protection of the region's predators. In addition to the lynx, the region is also home to the bear and the wolf.

The route of the Lynx Trail leads from the DINA Pivka Museum in Pivka/Slovenia to Rijeka in Croatia. Along the way, participants pass through remote landscapes and dense forests, cycle past lakes and take part in interactive activities aimed at protecting and raising awareness of the lynx habitat. So not only do you cycle through stunning landscapes, but you can also learn a lot.

GravGrav and the lynx rescue project

The Lynx Trail has set itself the goal of preventing the extinction of the European lynx population. The proceeds from the Lynx Trail go towards the preservation and promotion of the Lynx Trail, the DINA Pivka Museum and the national parks.

"The Lynx Trail was born to not only offer cyclists an exciting adventure, but also to contribute to the protection of these fascinating predators"says Max Riese, founder of GravGrav.

The Lynx Trail was initially planned as an initiative by GravGrav. Together with the artist Chiara Terraneo and the European cycling community gravgrav.cc, a jersey was to be designed and sold to raise money for a good cause. But this simple concept turned into an extensive project to save the lynx.

The Lynx Trail is equally suitable for beginners and experienced cyclists. You cycle the route over several days and there are many options for catering and overnight accommodation. Adventurous cyclists can ride the route alone or with friends. The route is retraced using a GPX track, allowing it to be flexibly adapted to individual requirements.

How interested parties can participate

If you would like to take part and ride the trails of the Lynx Trail, you can book a starter pack. Starter packs for the Lynx Trail are available from the DINA Pivka Centre of Large Carnivores. The starter packs include a mission brevet card, a Lynx Trail mission patch and other goodies to accompany your adventure on the trail.
