Trek Supercaliber 9.8 GX AXS

Trek’s 2021 “Supercaliber 9.8 GX AXS” is a state-of-the-art mountain bike designed for demanding riders. Priced at 6,799 EUR, this bike offers a wide range of advanced technical features and specifications.

At the heart of the Supercaliber 9.8 GX AXS is the OCLV Mountain Carbon frame, which comprises both the main frame and the seat stays. The frame is equipped with IsoStrut technology and features a tapered head tube as well as the Knock Block, which enables internal cable routing via the Control Freak system. The frame offers 60 mm of travel and utilises the Boost148 standard for improved stiffness and riding stability. The maximum rider weight is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs just 10 kg.

The Supercaliber 9.8 GX AXS is fitted with SRAM Level TLM hydraulic disc brakes at both the front and rear. The brake discs are SRAM Centerline with a 6-hole mounting pattern and rounded edges, measuring 160 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear. This configuration ensures excellent braking performance in a variety of conditions.

The rear derailleur and shifter are from the SRAM GX Eagle AXS series and offer a 12-speed drivetrain that is precise and efficient. The fork is a FOX Performance 32 Step-Cast with Float EVOL air spring and GRIP damping, featuring a remote lockout. The fork has 100 mm of travel, ensuring optimum damping.

The crankset consists of an SRAM GX Eagle Carbon with an aluminium chainring featuring 32 teeth. The cassette is an SRAM Eagle XG-1275 with a 10–52-tooth range, also offering 12-speed shifting.

The handlebars are Bontrager Kovee Pro made from OCLV carbon, with a width of 720 mm and a rise of 5 mm. The grips are ESI Chunky, which provide extra comfort. The stem is also a Bontrager Kovee Pro, with a length of 70 mm and a 13-degree angle.

The wheelset consists of Bontrager Kovee Pro 30 carbon rims, which are tubeless-ready and feature a 6-hole disc mount. The hubs are also Bontrager Kovee Pro 30 models, featuring Rapid Drive 108 and Boost standards for both the front and rear wheels.

The saddle is a Bontrager Verse Elite with austenitic rails and a width of 145 mm, whilst the seatpost is a Bontrager Pro made from OCLV carbon, with a diameter of 31.6 mm and a length of 400 mm.

The frame geometry comprises a reach of 44 mm, a stack of 59 mm, a seat tube length of 44 mm and a top tube length of 61 mm. The head tube angle is 69 degrees, the seat tube angle 70 degrees, the head tube length 9 mm, the chainstay length 43 mm, the standover height 76 mm and the wheelbase measures 112 mm in total.
