Trek Marlin+ 8

The "Marlin+ 8" model from Trek, released in 2024, is a versatile and robust e-mountain bike designed for challenging rides and a wide range of uses. It is available at a price of 3,299 EUR. The frame is made from Alpha Platinum aluminium and features a tapered head tube and internal cable routing. It also includes mounts for a luggage rack, mudguards and a side stand. The frame is fitted with a UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) and features a Boost148 standard with a 12 mm thru-axle. The maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 21 kg.

Shimano’s hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes, fitted at both the front and rear, ensure excellent braking performance. These are fitted with MT4100 brake levers and MT420 brake calipers, and use Shimano RT64 brake discs with a Centre Lock mount and a diameter of 203 mm. Gear changes are handled by the Shimano Deore M6100 12-speed shifter, which, in combination with a Shimano Deore M6100 cassette with 10–51 teeth, enables precise and reliable gear selection.

The RockShox Recon Silver RL fork, with its Solo Air suspension and Motion Control damper, offers 120 mm of travel and is also fitted with a lockout and a tapered steerer tube. The Boost110 standard and the Maxle Stealth axle provide additional stability.

The spec also includes VP-536 nylon platform pedals, an FSA CK-220 crankset with 165 mm crank arms, and an aluminium handlebar and stem from Bontrager. The handlebars are 750 mm wide with a 15 mm rise, whilst the stem is Blendr-compatible and measures 50 mm in length. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamps.

The bike is fitted with a Bontrager Line TLR 30 wheelset, which is tubeless-ready and features Presta valves. The rims are made of aluminium and have sealed bearings as well as a Centre Lock disc mount. The hubs are also made of aluminium, offering additional durability.

The saddle is a Bontrager Arvada with steel rails and a width of 138 mm, mounted on a TranzX JD-YSP18 seatpost with a 150 mm rise and internal cable routing. The saddle is secured via a bolt-on clamp with a diameter of 36.4 mm.

The Marlin+ 8’s drivetrain is assisted by a Bosch Active Line Plus motor with 50 Nm of torque. The accompanying Bosch CompactTube battery has a capacity of 400 Wh and is charged using a Bosch standard charger (2 A, 230 V, Smart System).

The bike’s geometry is characterised by a reach of 47 mm, a stack of 64 mm, a seat tube length of 45 mm, a top tube length of 65 mm, a head tube angle of 66 degrees, a seat tube angle of 74 degrees, a head tube length of 12 mm, a chainstay length of 48 mm, a standover height of 77 mm and a wheelbase of 125 mm. The “Marlin+ 8” model thus offers a balanced combination of stability and agility for an optimal riding experience.
