Trek Marlin 6 Gen 3

The "Marlin 6 Gen 3" model from Trek, released in 2024, is a versatile mountain bike priced at 899 EUR. The bike’s frame is made from Alpha Silver aluminium and features internal cable routing for the rear derailleur and the Vario seatpost. The frame is also fitted with luggage rack eyelets and a kickstand mount, and uses a 135 x 5 mm ThruSkew axle. The maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 14 kg.

For the brakes, Trek has opted for Tektro components with 160 mm brake discs at both the front and rear. The shift levers are from Shimano – specifically the U6000 model with a 10-speed drivetrain. The fork is a RockShox Judy with a coil spring, adjustable spring preload and TurnKey lockout. It has a 46 mm offset for the 29-inch wheel and 100 mm of travel, with the axle secured via a quick-release mechanism.

The pedals are VP-536 nylon platform pedals. The crankset is an FSA Alpha Drive with 30 teeth and a crank arm length of 170 mm. The headset is also from FSA, featuring a threaded cartridge bearing and an axle length of 122.5 mm. The cassette is a Shimano CUES LG300 LINKGLIDE with a 11–48-tooth range, compatible with the Shimano LG500 drivetrain.

The handlebars are made of aluminium by Bontrager, have a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 750 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Trail Comp with nylon clamps. The stem is also by Bontrager, made from aluminium, Blendr-compatible, with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a 7-degree angle and a length of 50 mm. The headset is semi-integrated with a diameter of 1 1/8".

The wheelset consists of Bontrager Kovee hollow-section rims, which are tubeless-ready, with an internal width of 23 mm and a Presta valve. The hubs are by Formula: at the front, the aluminium DC-20 with a 6-hole disc mount and a 100 mm ThruSkew axle; at the rear, the DC-22, also made of aluminium, with a 6-hole disc mount and a Shimano freehub for 8/9/10-speed cassettes, as well as a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle.

The saddle is a Bontrager Verse Short with stainless steel rails, and the seatpost is also made of aluminium by Bontrager; it has a diameter of 31.6 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 330 mm.

The packaging dimensions are 23 mm wide, 82 mm high and 144 mm long. The frame geometry offers a reach of 44 mm, a stack of 61 mm, a seat tube length of 42 mm and a top tube length of 62 mm. The head tube angle is 66 degrees and the seat tube angle is 73 degrees. The head tube is 10 mm long, the chainstay length is 44 mm, the standover height is 75 mm and the wheelbase is 116 mm.
