Trek FX 1 Disc Stagger

The "FX 1 Disc Stagger" model from Trek, released in 2023, is a versatile and robust bike available for €599. It features an Alpha Gold aluminium frame with a staggered top tube, which not only offers stability and lightness but also impresses with its DuoTrap S compatibility and internal cable routing. The frame is also fitted with a flat-mount disc brake mount, as well as rack and mudguard eyelets, and uses a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 12 kg.

The FX 1 Disc Stagger’s braking system consists of Tektro MD-U310 mechanical disc brakes, fitted at both the front and rear with 160 mm discs. These brakes provide reliable stopping power in a variety of conditions. The gear system is controlled by Shimano EF500 shifters, with a 2-speed shifter at the front and an 8-speed shifter at the rear. The front derailleur is a Shimano Tourney TY710 with a clamp diameter of 34.9 mm and a dual-pull function.

The bike’s fork is made of steel and features a flat-mount disc brake mount as well as luggage rack eyelets. It has an axle-to-crown length of 405 mm and uses a 5 mm ThruSkew quick-release axle. The pedals are made from Wellgo nylon platform material. The crankset is made from forged aluminium with a chain guard and has a length of 170 mm. It is fitted with a sealed cartridge bearing with a width of 68 mm. The cassette is a Shimano HG31 CS-HG31 with an 11–32 tooth range and 8 speeds, whilst the drivetrain uses a KMC Z8.3 chain.

The handlebars are Bontrager Riser steel bars with a diameter of 25.4 mm, a width of 600 mm and a 30 mm rise. The grips are Bontrager Satellite, and the stem is made of aluminium with a clamp diameter of 25.4 mm, a 10-degree angle and a length of 90 mm. The headset is threadless and has a size of 1 1/8".

The tyres are Bontrager H2 Comp, measuring 700 x 35, fitted to a wheelset comprising Formula aluminium hubs and Bontrager Connection rims. The rims are hollow-section rims with 32 holes and an internal width of 20 mm. The hubs are Formula DC-20 at the front and Formula DC-22 at the rear, both made of aluminium with a 6-bolt disc mount and quick-release axles.

The saddle is a Bontrager Sport Women’s model, fitted to an aluminium seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 330 mm.

The bike has the following geometric dimensions: a seat tube length of 38 mm, a top tube length of 54 mm, a head tube angle of 70 degrees, a seat tube angle of 74 degrees, a head tube length of 13 mm, a chainstay length of 45 mm, a standover height of 71 mm and a wheelbase of 106 mm. The packaging dimensions are 20 mm wide, 74 mm high and 136 mm long. The reach is 38 mm and the stack is 55 mm.
