Trek Dual Sport 3 Equipped Stagger Gen 5

The "Dual Sport 3 Equipped Stagger Gen 5" model from Trek, released in 2023, is a versatile and high-spec bicycle that stands out for its robust construction and modern technology. Priced at 1,199 EUR, it offers excellent value for money.

The frame is made from Alpha Gold aluminium and features internal cable routing, luggage rack and mudguard eyelets, as well as a post-mount disc brake mount and a kickstand mount with a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle. The maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 14 kg.

For the brakes, Trek has opted for Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. MT201 brake levers and UR300 brake calipers are fitted at both the front and rear, combined with Shimano RT26 brake discs with a 160 mm diameter and a 6-hole disc mount. These ensure reliable braking performance in a variety of conditions.

The gear system consists of a Shimano Deore M4100 10-speed shifter. The fork is a Dual Sport carbon fork with internal brake routing and mounting points for mudguards and a luggage rack, as well as a ThruSkew 5 mm quick-release axle.

Lighting is provided by a Herrmans H-Trace Dynamo ECO-LED front light with 100 lumens. The pedals feature a nylon body with an aluminium cage from Wellgo. The crankset is made of aluminium and features a narrow-wide chainring with 40 teeth and a crank arm length of 175 mm. The cassette is a Shimano Deore M4100 with 11–46 teeth, also designed for 10 speeds, and the drivetrain uses a KMC X10 chain.

The handlebars are Bontrager Comp Lowriser aluminium handlebars with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a rise of 15 mm and a width of 660 mm. The grips are Bontrager XR Endurance Elite, whilst the stem is a Bontrager Elite with a clamp diameter of 31.8 mm, Blendr compatibility, a 7-degree angle and a length of 110 mm.

The wheelset consists of Bontrager Kovee hollow-wall rims, which are tubeless-ready and have an internal width of 23 mm. At the front is a 6 V, 3.0 W dynamo; at the rear is a Formula DC-22 hub with a 6-hole disc mount and a Shimano freehub for 8/9/10-speed cassettes, as well as a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle.

The saddle is a Bontrager H1; the aluminium seatpost has a diameter of 27.2 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 330 mm. The bike is also fitted with wide SKS plastic mudguards. An aluminium side stand mounted on the rear triangle and a MIK-compatible aluminium rear rack with a maximum load capacity of 25 kg round off the features.

The bike’s dimensions comprise a packaging width of 25 mm, a packaging height of 84 mm and a packaging length of 145 mm.
