Stevens Avantgarde Gent

The “Avantgarde Gent” model from Stevens, released in 2020, is a high-quality trekking bike designed for a wide range of uses. Priced at 1,799 EUR, it offers a comprehensive range of features and high quality standards. The frame is made from 6061 TB aluminium, giving the bike a robust yet lightweight construction. The maximum load capacity is 130 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs just 13 kg.

The Avantgarde Gent’s braking system comprises Shimano BR-M6000 brakes and Shimano BL-T6000 trekking brake levers, which ensure reliable braking performance. The rear derailleur is a Shimano Deore XT Trekking Shadow RD-T8000-SGS with a 3x10-speed configuration, controlled by Shimano Deore SL-M6000 I-Spec II shift levers. The front derailleur is a Shimano Deore XT Trekking FD-T8000-HL3, which guarantees precise and smooth gear-changing performance.

The SR Suntour NCX-E RL Air fork, with 63 mm of travel, ensures a comfortable ride on uneven terrain. For optimum visibility in the dark, the bike is fitted with a B+M IQ-XS T Senso+ front light (70 lux) and a Shine Evo rear light, both powered by a Shutter Precision PL-8X dynamo.

Other features include ATB Alu Pro Reflex pedals, a BSA 68 mm bottom bracket and a Shimano Deore XT Trekking FC-T8000 crankset with 48-36-26 teeth. The cassette is a Shimano CS-HG81 with 10 speeds. The handlebars and stem are both from the Oxygen Scorpo range, with the handlebars measuring 640 mm in width. The headset is a STEVENS AH Taper, 1 1/8" to 1 1/2".

The bike is fitted with Oxygen SL-D A21 rims in size 21 x 622 and Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres in size 40-622, which ensure good road holding and durability. The front hub is a Shutter Precision PL-8X and the rear hub is a Shimano Deore XT.

Comfort is enhanced by a Selle Royal Viper saddle and an Oxygen Scorpo seatpost. SKS mudguards protect against splashes, whilst a Pletscher Comp kickstand and a Racktime Shine Evo RTA luggage rack provide additional functionality. Overall, the Stevens Avantgarde Gent offers a balanced combination of performance, comfort and reliability, making it ideal for demanding trekking tours.
