Scott Scale 980

The "Scale 980" model from Scott, released in 2022, is a versatile mountain bike that stands out for its high-quality technical components and well-thought-out design. The frame is constructed from Scale Alloy 6061 custom butted tubing and, with Boost QR 5x141mm, a tapered head tube and a BB92 bottom bracket shell, provides a stable and durable foundation. The internal cable routing and replaceable derailleur hanger ensure a clean look and easy maintenance.

The maximum rider weight is 128 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs in at 13 kg. The recommended rider height for this model is between 180 cm and 190 cm, making it ideal for taller riders.

The Scale 980 is fitted with Shimano MT200 disc brakes, combined with Shimano SM-RT10 CL brake discs (180 mm at the front and 160 mm at the rear), which ensure reliable braking performance. Gear changes are handled by a Shimano Deore RD-M6100 SGS Shadow Plus system with 12 speeds, controlled by a Shimano Deore SL-M6100-R Rapidfire Plus shifter.

The Suntour XCR32 RL-R fork with coil spring and 100 mm travel offers good suspension performance and can be controlled via a remote lockout. The crankset consists of a Shimano FC-MT511-1 with 32 teeth, complemented by a Shimano Deore CS-M6100-12 cassette with a gear range of 10–51T. The drivetrain is completed by a KMC X12 chain.

Comfort and control are ensured by the Syncros handlebars made from 6061 alloy, which are 740 mm wide and feature a 9-degree backsweep. The stem is also made from Syncros 6061 alloy and has a 6-degree angle. The Syncros OE Press Fit headset ensures precise steering.

The wheelsets consist of Syncros rims with 32 spokes and are fitted with Maxxis Rekon Race tyres (2.25" / 60TPI). The front hub is a Formula CL-51 and the rear hub is a Shimano FH-MT401-B CL with Boost QR 5x141mm and Micro Spline.

The saddle is a Syncros Belcarra Regular 2.5, mounted on a Syncros seatpost measuring 31.6x400mm. Together, they provide a comfortable riding position.

The frame’s geometry is designed for performance: with a reach of 438 mm, a stack of 619 mm, a seat tube length of 480 mm and a top tube length of 620 mm, the bike offers a well-balanced riding position. The head tube angle is 70 degrees, the seat tube angle 74 degrees, the head tube length 115 mm, the chainstay length 440 mm and the bottom bracket drop is 58 mm. Other dimensions include a top tube height of 805 mm, a fork height of 501 mm, a wheelbase of 1138 mm and a bottom bracket height of 312 mm.
