KTM CHICAGO DISC 291

The "CHICAGO DISC 291" model from KTM, released in 2021, is a mountain bike available for 699 EUR. The bike’s frame is made from a 29" 6061 MTB M1110 aluminium alloy, which is renowned for its robustness and durability.

The Shimano MT200 2-piston braking system has been fitted, featuring a 180 mm diameter Shimano RT10 CL brake disc at the front and a 160 mm brake disc at the rear. This combination ensures reliable braking performance under a wide range of conditions. The gear system is controlled by the Shimano Altus M2000-SGS front derailleur and the Shimano Altus SL-M2010 shift levers, enabling precise and smooth gear changes. The crankset consists of the Shimano Altus T101 with a 40-30-22S configuration, whilst the cassette is a Shimano HG200-9 with an 11-34 tooth range. The drivetrain is completed by the Shimano HG53 chain.

Suspension is provided by a Suntour XCT 30 HLO DS 29" fork with 100 mm of travel, ensuring additional comfort and control on uneven terrain. The pedals are KTM MTB VPE-537 EPB, which ensure a secure grip and efficient pedalling.

The bike’s cockpit consists of a KTM Line riser handlebar, 720 mm wide, and KTM Line 1546A grips, which ensure comfortable handling. The stem has a 7° angle and is also from the KTM Line series, whilst the headset is a Ritchey Zero Logic PRESS FIT 1-1/8" with a 15 mm thread.

The tyres on the CHICAGO DISC 291 are Schwalbe SMART SAM Perf 57-622, fitted to a wheelset comprising front and rear KTM Line components. These include Shimano HB-TX505 CL hubs with 32 spokes and KTM 29" 36H ROCKY 22 RX rims (622x22), as well as RM 2.0 INOX silver spokes.

The saddle is a KTM MTB model, fitted to a KTM Line 1B seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm. Overall, the KTM CHICAGO DISC 291 offers a well-thought-out combination of components that will appeal to both beginners and experienced mountain bikers.
