Kalkhoff IMAGE 1.B XXL

The "IMAGE 1.B XXL" model from Kalkhoff, launched in 2023, offers a balanced combination of comfort, performance and functionality, ideal for discerning riders who value quality and reliability. Priced at 3399 EUR, this e-bike is in the premium segment and, as such, features a wide range of high-quality components. The frame is made from E-Comfort aluminium and is designed for a maximum permissible weight of up to 170 kg, making it particularly robust and durable.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes, which operate reliably even in wet or challenging conditions. The drivetrain is a 5-speed Shimano Nexus system, operated via a Shimano Nexus shifter. This allows for simple and precise gear selection. The Suntour NVX30 fork, with 80 mm of travel, combined with the XXL Spring, ensures additional comfort on uneven terrain.

The bike is lit by the Herrmans H-Black MR8 LED front light and the Herrmans H-Trace LED rear light, which ensure good visibility in traffic. The pedals are made of aluminium and, with their XXL size, offer additional comfort. Power is transmitted via a KMC Z1 EPT chain with an anti-rust coating, whilst the crankset is also made of aluminium.

The handlebars are aluminium touring handlebars and the adjustable stem is 110 mm long, allowing for individual adjustment of the riding position. The Rodi Cyclone rims with eyelets, combined with the Schwalbe Energizer Plus Performance tyres in size 55-622, provide a stable base for the e-bike. The spokes are made of stainless steel, offering additional stability.

At the front, the bike is fitted with a Shimano TX505 hub with a quick-release mechanism, whilst at the rear a Shimano Nexus 5-speed hub is fitted. The Selle Royal Giara saddle, combined with the suspension-equipped Patent XXL seatpost, ensures added comfort on longer rides. Practical features such as plastic mudguards with edge protection and a MIK HD luggage rack round off the specification.

The bike is powered by a Bosch Performance Line Smart System motor, which, with 36 V, 250 W and a torque of 75 Nm, providing ample power for a wide range of riding situations. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 545 Wh and is controlled via the Bosch Intuvia 100 display with LED remote control. The bike’s geometry is well thought out: the seat tube length is 600 mm, the top tube measures 664 mm and the wheelbase is 1276 mm, which together ensure a comfortable and stable ride.
