Kalkhoff ENTICE 18

The 2023 Kalkhoff ENTICE 18 is a trekking bike which, at a price of 1099 EUR, represents an attractive option in the mid-price range. The bike’s frame is made of aluminium and is part of the Trekking 1.6 series, ensuring a robust and durable construction. The model’s maximum load capacity is 130 kg, indicating a solid build that can handle even heavier loads.

Safety and control are ensured by Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes with 180 mm front and 160 mm rear rotors. The drivetrain is an 18-speed Shimano Alivio, which, in combination with the Shimano Acera shifters, ensures reliable and precise gear changes. Suspension is provided by the SR Suntour XCM LO fork with 80 mm of travel, ensuring a comfortable ride on a variety of surfaces.

The bike is lit by the Herrmans H-Black MR4 LED front light and the Herrmans H-Trace LED rear light, which ensure good visibility in the dark. The Urban aluminium pedals are fitted with anti-slip protection and reflectors to enhance safety. The drivetrain features the Shimano HG53, whilst the crankset and chainring are also from Shimano.

Plastic mudguards with edge protection and an aluminium luggage rack with the Snap-IT system round off the specification.

The bike’s geometry comprises a seat tube length of 550 mm, a top tube length of 606 mm and a head tube angle of 70 degrees. The seat tube angle is 73 degrees, whilst the chainstay length is 455 mm. The wheelbase measures 1119 mm and ensures stable handling. Overall, the Kalkhoff ENTICE 18 offers a good balance between comfort, functionality and value for money, and is ideal for trekking tours and everyday use.
