Kalkhoff AGATTU 8R

The "AGATTU 8R" model from Kalkhoff, launched in 2021, is a versatile trekking bike designed for everyday use and longer rides. Priced at 699 EUR, it offers good value for money. The frame is made from robust aluminium, known as Trekking 0.5 V2, ensuring a stable and durable construction. The bike’s brakes are Shimano Alivio T4000 V-brakes, which, in combination with the Tektro CL-330 brake levers, ensure reliable braking performance.

The bike is fitted with a Shimano Nexus 8-speed gear system, which allows for easy and precise gear selection. The gear lever is also from Shimano Nexus and complements the gear system perfectly. The SR Suntour NEX fork, with 63 mm of travel, is adjustable and offers additional comfort on uneven roads.

Lighting is provided by a Herrmans MR GO LED front light with 20 lux and an AXA Blueline LED rear light with a parking light function, ensuring visibility and safety in the dark. The pedals are ergonomically designed and feature anti-slip protection as well as reflectors, which further enhance safety.

The rims are lightweight Concept SDR models, fitted with Schwalbe Citizen tyres in size 47-622, which offer a good balance between rolling resistance and comfort. The hubs consist of a Shimano C3000 hub dynamo at the front and a Shimano Nexus 8-speed hub at the rear, supported by stainless steel spokes.

The saddle is a Kalkhoff Sport Comfort model, mounted on a suspension-equipped patented seatpost, which provides additional comfort. The mudguards are made of plastic and feature edge protection to effectively keep out splashing water. A sturdy aluminium luggage rack completes the package and provides space for luggage or shopping. Overall, the Kalkhoff AGATTU 8R is a well-equipped bike that combines comfort, functionality and reliability in an attractive package.
