Hercules Robert/a I-R8

The “Robert/a I-R8” model from Hercules, released in 2022, is a versatile e-bike that is ideal for use in urban environments. Priced at 2,899 EUR, it offers a balanced combination of comfort, performance and safety. The frame is made from high-quality aluminium (AL 6061) and is specifically designed as a trekking city frame with Powertube integration, giving the bike a modern and elegant look. The maximum load capacity is 135 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 27 kg.

The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes (MT200), together with the Shimano BL-MT201 brake levers and a 180 mm front brake disc (Shimano SM-RT10), ensure reliable braking performance in a variety of conditions. Gear changes are operated via the Shimano Revoshifter, and the drivetrain consists of a KMC Z1EHX chain and a Shimano 18T sprocket. The FSA CK-220 crankset completes the drivetrain.

Comfort and control are provided by the SR Suntour NEX-E25 suspension fork with 63 mm of travel, which can be adjusted to cope with uneven road surfaces. The lighting comprises a HERCULES FH 40 LED front light with up to 40 lux and a Comus R-232EB rear light mounted on the luggage rack, ensuring good visibility in traffic.

The bike is fitted with non-slip Wellgo C-157 pedals and features ergonomic Ergo City handlebars with a 35° backsweep, which allow for a comfortable riding position. The Ergo grips with integrated clamping offer additional comfort. The adjustable A-head stem and semi-integrated headset contribute to the bike’s flexibility and adaptability.

The DDM-2 rims are fitted with Supero 50-622 tyres, which feature Optima Safe puncture protection to minimise the risk of punctures. The front hub is fitted with a Shimano RM35 quick-release mechanism and the rear hub with a Shimano Nexus 8-speed coaster brake. Sturdy black steel spokes, reinforced on the rear wheel, ensure durability.

The Comodoro City saddle, mounted on a Kalloy SP-383 seatpost with 45 mm travel and 10 mm offset, offers additional comfort. Practical features such as the SKS plastic mudguards, the Horn Catena 18 chain guard, the Pletscher Comp Flex 40 kickstand and the ABUS IT2.1 battery lock with XPlus cylinder enhance the bike’s suitability for everyday use.

An i-Rack system carrier with a spring-loaded flap allows for easy transport of luggage. The Bosch Active Plus GEN3 motor, with 250 watts of power and 50 Nm of torque, combined with the Bosch Powertube battery (500 Wh), provides powerful assistance. The Bosch Intuvia display offers intuitive control of the e-bike system. A Bosch 2A charger is included to charge the battery efficiently.

With a reach of 420 mm and a stack of 692 mm, the Hercules Robert/a I-R8 is a well-balanced bike that is suitable for both daily commuting and longer rides.
