Hercules Lyon R7

The 2023 Hercules Lyon R7 is a modern e-city bike featuring an AL 6061 series aluminium frame and with a maximum permissible weight of 135 kg. The bike itself weighs 25 kg and offers a harmonious combination of comfort and functionality for city riding. Priced at 2599 EUR, it is positioned in the mid-range price segment for e-bikes.

The Lyon R7 features a Shimano Nexus 7-speed gear system with a coaster brake, operated by the Shimano Revoshifter. The braking system consists of Magura HS11 hydraulic rim brakes, which provide reliable braking performance at both the front and rear. The SR Suntour CR85 fork, with an adjustable travel of 63 mm, helps absorb shocks and enhances riding comfort on uneven roads.

For road safety, the bike is fitted with a Comus F16 LED front light, which provides up to 25 lux, and a Comus R99 LED rear light. Power is provided by an Active GEN3 motor with 250 watts and a torque of 40 Nm, powered by a Bosch PowerPack battery with a capacity of 500 Wh. The bike is controlled via the Bosch Purion display, which clearly shows all the key information.

The Lyon R7’s specification also includes touring handlebars with a 37° backsweep, ergonomic grips with integrated clamps and an adjustable stem. The tyres are SUPERO Optima Safe, size 50-622, fitted to DBM-2 rims. The bike is fitted with a DDK City saddle, mounted on a Kalloy seatpost.

Other practical features include the Monkey Load system carrier with a spring-loaded flap, a Standwell rear stand, plastic mudguards and a Horn Catena 18 chain guard. An AXA battery lock provides additional security. The wheelbase is 1159 mm, which, together with the geometry specifications – such as a head tube angle of 68 degrees and a seat tube angle of 72 degrees – ensures a stable and comfortable ride.
