Hercules Futura I-8

The Hercules Futura I-8, launched in 2024, is an e-trekking bike priced at 3,399 euros, placing it in the upper mid-range. The bike’s frame is from the eTrekking R29b series, made from AL6061 aluminium, which ensures a robust yet lightweight construction. The model’s maximum load capacity is 150 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 26 kg.

This model is specifically designed for people between 185 cm and 190 cm in height. The braking system comprises Shimano hydraulic disc brakes – specifically the MT200 series – with a 180 mm front brake disc and a 160 mm rear disc. The bike’s gear system is an 8-speed Shimano Acera RD-M3020, controlled by the Shimano SL-M3158R shift lever.

The front fork is an SR Suntour NEX-E25 with 63 mm of travel; it also features a lockout and is adjustable. Lighting is provided by a Hercules FS-50 front light with up to 50 lux and a Busch & Müller 2C LED rear light. The pedals are made of aluminium and are manufactured by Marwi (model SP828).

Power is provided by the Bosch Performance Line Smart System motor, with an output of 250 watts and a torque of 75 Nm. Power is supplied by a Bosch PowerTube battery with a capacity of 625 Wh, which is controlled via the Bosch Purion 200 display. The charger has an output of 2A.

The bike is fitted with a Trekking Zecure handlebar, which is 680 mm wide and has a 15° backsweep. The stem is adjustable and has a length of 110 mm. The tyres are Schwalbe Energizer Active Plus, size 50-622, fitted to Rodi Viper 19 rims. The hubs are Shimano HB-QC300 at the front and FH-QC300 at the rear, both with a Centre Lock system.

The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Ergo Sport Man model, fitted to a Limotec S1 seatpost with 50 mm of travel. Additional features include Curana Apollo 60 mudguards, a Horn Catena 18 chain guard, a Pletscher Comp Flex 40 kickstand and an ABUS IT3 battery lock with an XPlus cylinder. The luggage rack is a Monkey Load system rack with a spring-loaded flap.
