Hercules E-Imperial I-R5

The 2021 E-Imperial I-R5 from Hercules is a high-quality e-bike which, at a price of 4199 EUR, is positioned in the upper mid-range. The frame is made from aluminium from the Trekking Sport Advanced series, featuring Powertube integration and a tapered headset, which gives the bike a modern and stable structure. With a maximum load capacity of 170 kg and a kerb weight of 29 kg, it offers solid load-bearing capacity and stability.

The Shimano MT410 hydraulic disc brakes, together with the Shimano BL-MT402 brake levers and a 180 mm Shimano SM-RT54 front brake disc, ensure reliable braking power. Gear changes are controlled via a Shimano Revoshifter, whilst the SR Suntour NEX-E25 HLO fork, with 63 mm of travel, adjustable settings and a lockout function, ensures comfort on uneven terrain.

For lighting, the E-Imperial I-R5 is fitted with a HERCULES FH 100 LED front light, which provides up to 100 lux, and an Ivalo LED rear light, which is integrated into the luggage rack. The drivetrain is based on the Gates CDX system with a Samox EC38 crankset and a Gates CDX 28T sprocket, ensuring a low-maintenance and reliable drivetrain.

The Zecure HD handlebars, with a 35° backsweep and a 20 mm rise, together with the Ergon GP1 grips, provide a comfortable riding position. The adjustable A-head stem allows for individual adjustment of the handlebar height. The Selle Bassano SUPREMA City saddle, mounted on a Zecure HD001 seatpost, provides additional comfort.

The e-bike is fitted with Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres, which are particularly puncture-resistant thanks to their SmartGuard technology. The rims are Ryde Andra 40, whilst the hubs are from Shimano: an M4050 at the front with quick-release and Centerlock, and a Nexus 5-speed hub with coaster brake at the rear.

A Racktime luggage rack with the SnapIt system and an integrated rear light, as well as an ABUS Pro Shield 5850 lock, offer practical features for everyday use. The Bosch Performance Cruise GEN3 motor, with 250 watts of power and 65 Nm of torque, combined with a Bosch Powertube battery with a capacity of 625 Wh, provides powerful assistance. The Bosch Intuvia display allows for easy control and a clear overview.

Additional features such as the Pletscher Comp Flex 40 kickstand, SKS A53 plastic mudguards and the Horn Catena 08 chain guard round off the overall package. With a reach of 416 mm and a stack of 637 mm, the E-Imperial I-R5 is ideally suited to both the daily commute and longer rides.
