GIANT Explore E+ 2 [RD Evo]

The "Explore E+ 2 [RD Evo]" model from GIANT, released in 2022, offers a versatile range of features and is available at a price of 3,099 EUR. The frame is an AluxX frame with an integrated speed sensor and is EnergyPak Plus compatible (GTS version only). The frame features a 135mm QR mount.

The brakes are Tektro HD-M275 units with 180/160mm discs, operated by Tektro HD-M275 brake levers. The drivetrain is a Shimano Alivio M3100 9-speed system, controlled by Shimano Altus M2010 shifters. The fork is an SR Suntour NEX E25 NLO Coil DS with 63mm of travel and a QR mount.

The lighting comprises an Axa BlueLine Steady E6 front light with 30 lux and an Axa BlueLine Steady E6 rear light. The pedals are made of aluminium. The crankset is made of a forged alloy with a 42T chainring. The cassette is a Shimano CS-HG200 with 11–36T, and the chain is a KMC e.9 Sport, which is specially optimised for e-bikes.

The rims are GIANT eX 2, tubeless-ready, and the tyres are GIANT Crosscut Gravel 2, 700x45c (622x45), also tubeless-ready and fitted with reflective strips. The bike is supplied with an inner tube as standard.

The hubs are GIANT eTracker and the spokes are made of stainless steel. The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Ergo Moderate, mounted on a GIANT seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm. A GIANT KSA18 kickstand and a MIK luggage rack are also fitted.

The drive system is provided by a SyncDrive Sport motor with 70Nm of torque, powered by Yamaha. The battery is an EnergyPak Smart Integrated with a capacity of 500Wh, which is EnergyPak Plus compatible. The display is a RideDash EVO, combined with a RideControl Ergo 2 control unit. The charger is an EnergyPak Smart Charger Compact with a charging current of 4A.

The bike’s geometry comprises a reach of 387 mm, a stack of 586 mm, a seat tube length of 470 mm and a top tube length of 560 mm. The head tube angle is 72 degrees, the seat tube angle 74 degrees, the head tube length 150 mm, the chainstay length 430 mm and the bottom bracket drop 80 mm. The fork offset is 50 mm and the standover height is 752 mm. The crank length is 173 mm and the wheelbase measures 1030 mm in total.
