Focus ATLAS 8.8

The "ATLAS 8.8" model from Focus, released in 2022, is a high-quality bicycle priced at €3,499, placing it in the upper mid-range. The frame is made of carbon and is equipped with disc brakes. It features C.I.S. integration, a Press-Fit BB86 bottom bracket and a 148x12 mm thru-axle. The internal cable routing ensures a clean, tidy appearance. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 120 kg, whilst its own weight is just 9 kg, reflecting the use of lightweight materials.

The ATLAS 8.8’s braking system relies on the tried-and-tested Shimano GRX ST-RX810 and BR-RX810 combination, which uses 160 mm brake discs at both the front and rear. The gear system is also from Shimano and comprises the GRX RD-RX810 with 11 speeds, operated via the Shimano GRX ST-RX800 shifter. The Shimano GRX FC-RX600 crankset and the Shimano 105 R7000 cassette complete the drivetrain components.

The bike’s fork is also made of carbon and is designed for disc brakes. It features a 110x12 mm thru-axle and offers multiple mounting points as well as internal brake cable routing. The handlebars, an Easton EA70 AX, have a 125 mm drop, an 80 mm reach and a 16-degree flare. The stem is an aluminium FOCUS C.I.S. integrated model with a length of 80 mm.

The tyres are WTB Riddler in size 700 x 45C and are foldable, ensuring a good balance between speed and comfort. The wheelset consists of DT Swiss X1900 wheels with Centre-Lock disc brakes and thru-axles of 12x110 mm at the front and 12x148 mm at the rear. The saddle is a fi'zi:k Taiga, mounted on a BBB FlyPost SP-135 carbon seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm and no setback.

In terms of geometry, the ATLAS 8.8 offers a reach of 370 mm, a stack of 569 mm and a top tube length of 532 mm. The head tube angle is 71 degrees, the seat tube angle 74 degrees, whilst the head tube length is 115 mm. The chainstay length measures 425 mm, the bottom bracket drop is 75 mm and the fork offset is 50 mm. The crank length is set at 170 mm and the wheelbase measures a total of 1016 mm.
