Electra Townie Go! 5i Step-Over

The "Townie Go! 5i Step-Over" model from Electra, launched in 2024, is an e-bike that stands out for its well-thought-out design and high-quality features. Priced at 2,799 EUR, this bike offers a combination of comfort, performance and style. The frame is made from 6061-T6 aluminium and utilises the patented Flat Foot Technology®, which ensures a relaxed riding position whilst allowing easy access to the ground. The maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 24 kg.

The braking system comprises Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with Shimano RT10 discs, each measuring 180 mm, providing reliable braking performance at both the front and rear. The gears are controlled by a Shimano Nexus 5-speed twist shifter with a visual gear indicator, allowing for simple and intuitive operation. The fork is a unicrown fork made from high-tensile steel with straight/tapered stanchions, which ensures stability.

Lighting is provided by a Spanninga LED light system at both the front and rear, ensuring good visibility when cycling at night. The aluminium platform pedals are fitted with a non-slip rubber surface to ensure a secure grip. The ProWheel crankset is also made of aluminium with a crank arm length of 170 mm. Power is transmitted via a nickel-plated KMC Z1EHX EPT chain, and the sprocket has 30 teeth.

The handlebars are made of aluminium, with a custom bend, a width of 65 cm and a rise of 10 cm. The ergonomic, hand-stitched synthetic leather grips offer additional comfort. The stem is made of forged aluminium with a shaft diameter of 25.4 mm and an extension of 80 mm. The headset is made of steel, threaded, semi-integrated and has a diameter of 1 1/8".

The tyres are Schwalbe Fat Frank 26" x 2.35" balloon tyres with Kevlar®Guard puncture protection, ensuring a comfortable ride. The wheelset consists of painted or anodised 26” aluminium rims with 36-hole aluminium low-flange hubs and Centre Lock brake disc mounts.

The ergonomic saddle is fitted with shock-absorbing elastomers and the seatpost is made of aluminium with a Micro Adjust function. The bike features aluminium rims acting as mudguards, an aluminium centre stand and a MIK-compatible luggage rack.

The Townie Go! 5i Step-Over is powered by a Bosch Active Line Plus motor with an output of 250 watts and a torque of 50 Nm, which assists speeds of up to 25 km/h. The Bosch PowerPack Performance battery, with a capacity of 500 Wh, is mounted on the down tube and is controlled via the Bosch Purion display. The charger is a standard Bosch charger with an output of 4A (220–240 V).
