Cannondale Cargowagen Neo 2

The “Cargowagen Neo 2” model from Cannondale, launched in 2024, is a versatile and robust e-bike designed specifically for carrying loads. Priced at 4,699 EUR, it offers a wide range of high-quality components and technical features.

The frame of the Cargowagen Neo 2 is made from SmartForm C2 aluminium and features a step-through design that makes it easy to get on and off the bike. The integrated rear luggage rack can carry loads of up to 80 kg, and there are additional mounts for a front luggage rack. The frame is also designed to accommodate two batteries, which can significantly increase the range.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano MT420 hydraulic disc brakes with four pistons and 180/203 mm rotors. The brake levers are also from Shimano (MT401) and offer precise control. The drivetrain consists of a Shimano Deore 10-speed groupset (5130) with matching shift levers, enabling reliable and versatile gear selection.

The suspension on the Cargowagen Neo 2 comprises an SR Suntour Mobie 34 Cargo suspension fork with 80 mm of travel, which is specifically designed for carrying loads. The lighting comprises a high-visibility LED headlight and a Lezyne Super Bright rear light, ensuring good visibility and safety.

Power is provided by a Bosch Cargo Line motor with assistance up to 25 km/h. The Bosch PowerPack battery has a capacity of 545 Wh and is charged using a Bosch 4A charger. The Bosch Kiox 300 display with LED remote offers intuitive operation and displays all the necessary information at a glance.

The spec is complemented by a robust Samox crankset with 52 teeth and a Shimano CUES CS-LG300 cassette (11–41, 10-speed). Power is transmitted via a KMC EGlide chain. The handlebars are a Cannondale Cruise Control Hi-Rise model made from 6061 aluminium, with a width of 740 mm and a 15-degree backsweep. The grips are ergonomic Cannondale Ergo Lock-on models.

The rims are made from double-walled aluminium and, with an internal width of 35 mm and 36 spokes, offer a high level of stability. The tyres are Schwalbe Pick-Up models, 20x2.6" at the front and 20x2.15" at the rear. The hubs are by Shimano (front: HB-TC500-15-B, rear: FH-TC600-HM-B) and feature sealed industrial bearings.

The saddle is a comfortable model from Cannondale, mounted on a TranzX Suspension Dropper seatpost with 70 mm of adjustment. Mudguards are fitted, as are a heavy-duty Cannondale kickstand and an Abus frame lock. The rear luggage rack is already fitted.

With a gross weight of 77 kg, the Cargowagen Neo 2 is a heavy but very sturdy e-bike, ideal for transporting heavy loads whilst offering comfort and safety.
