Bergamont Horizon 4 Amsterdam green

The "Horizon 4 Amsterdam green" model from Bergamont, released in 2022, is a versatile and robust bicycle that stands out for its high-quality specifications and excellent value for money. Priced at EUR 849, it offers a wide range of technical features suitable for both everyday use and longer rides.

The Horizon 4’s frame is made from lightweight AL-6061 aluminium and is designed for 28-inch wheels, ensuring a stable and comfortable ride. The maximum load capacity is 130 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 17 kg.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes (BR-MT200), which, in combination with the Shimano ST-EF505 brake levers, deliver reliable and precise stopping power. The front brake disc is a Shimano SM-RT10 with a diameter of 160 mm. The bike’s gear system is also by Shimano; the RD-T4000 rear derailleur, combined with the 3x8-speed STI shifter (ST-EF505) and the FD-TY710 front derailleur, offers a wide range of gear ratios for various riding conditions.

The bike’s fork is a Suntour NEX DS with 63 mm of travel and adjustable preload, which offers additional comfort on uneven terrain. Lighting is provided by an Axa Compactline front light with 20 lux and a parking light function, as well as a Trelock LS613 Duo Flat rear light, also with a parking light function.

The Horizon 4 is fitted with aluminium trekking pedals and features a Shimano BB-UN101 bottom bracket. The crankset is a Shimano FC-TY301 with chainrings in sizes 48/38/28t and a chain guard. The cassette is a Shimano CS-HG200-8 with a 12–32t range, and the drivetrain is powered by a KMC Z8 chain.

The handlebars are BGM Comp Riser Bars with a 33° back sweep, combined with BGM Comfort Ergo grips for added comfort. The stem is a BGM Comp Vario with a clamp diameter of 25.4 mm. The headset is a BGM Comp, semi-integrated and designed for a diameter of 1 1/8".

The rims are BGM Comp X2, specially designed for disc brakes, and the tyres are Schwalbe Road Cruiser with Kevlarguard and a reflective strip, size 47-622. The hubs are by Shimano; the front hub is a dynamo hub (DH-3D37), and both hubs feature a Centre Lock disc brake mount and quick-release mechanisms. The spokes are made of black steel.

The saddle is a Syncros Capilano Urban, mounted on a Post Moderne PM-780E seatpost with suspension for added riding comfort. The bike is also fitted with SKS mudguards and an SKS Chainblade chain guard. An Atran kickstand ensures the bike stands securely, and the luggage rack is a BGM Trekking Alloy model featuring the Racktime Snapit 2.0 system and an integrated mudguard mount.
