I knew from the MT-5 that it had scored full marks in the brake test and was almost as powerful as its big brother, the MT-7. Voilà! Three years of riding - no problems. The MT-5 is said to be tricky to bleed - fortunately I didn't get into that predicament. The only drawback was that at some point the front brake started to crescendo - that was annoying! But I greased all four pistons and it stopped. Very good! I put in the red test-winning Trickstuff pads, model Power (photo). A super combination and stylish, because the red colour shone through.
I had to get used to the braking behaviour a little - especially with manuals. It requires a sensitive brake finger to modulate them smoothly. If you want more power, you can pimp the MT-5 with special, large discs from Magura, type MDR-P (€ 55). My tip for downhill moshers and e-freeriders.
