Sram Guide Ultimate in the long-term check
Yes, we know that DOT brake fluid in disc brakes should be changed regularly, and yet we didn't do it during the long-term test of the Sram Guide Ultimate.

Why? Because the Sram-Guide Ultimate brakewhich we have been Disc brake test in BIKE 3/16 The bike worked so well that we didn't even think about servicing it. The slim four-piston system did its job so inconspicuously, even on occasional bike park excursions and enduro races, that it didn't even come into contact with the bleed kit.

This made the sudden death all the more surprising. At the beginning of July, the master piston refused to work. First the brake retraction slowed down, then the lever got stuck completely. Even subsequent bleeding did not help. Sram admitted in a later press release that there were problems with the seals of the Guide brakes and that every affected customer should contact their dealer. According to Sram, Sram Guide brakes delivered from July 2017 onwards are no longer affected.
