Endurance test: Brake Avid Elixir 9
The new 9-series Elixir replaces the frequently installed CR model and scores with tool-free pressure point and lever width adjustment.
As an endurance test, we went to the Whistler bike park for a fortnight with 200 mm discs at the front and 180 mm at the rear. The 9-series with its sintered brake pads impressed with its extremely powerful braking performance, little annoying noise and the usual perfect ergonomics. The pressure point of the lever only shifted on heavy bumps. Uncritical, but slightly irritating.
CONCLUSION: powerful and trouble-free except for the pressure point wandering.
